Teton County Sheriff’s Office retires one, hires another
Lt. Hooper will enjoy a well-deserved retirement, Deputy King sworn in
JACKSON HOLE, Wyo. — The Teton County Sheriff’s Office announced a few internal changes this week. One long-serving officer heads off to retirement as another is ready to hit the streets on patrol.
Lt. Chett Hooper, who most recently headed the detention center, is turning in his badge for the civilian life.
Hooper started at the jail as a detention officer in 1999. He started patrolling as a deputy in 2004, making Sergeant of Patrol in 2007. In 2019, Hooper was made Lieutenant.
His experience in law enforcement will be tough to replace but his departure makes room for younger recruits like Sara King, who was sworn in this week as a deputy.
King began with TCSO in a new position started in 2019. As part of Sheriff Matt Carr’s jail reform push, King was hired fulltime as Treatment Court/Alternative to Incarceration Coordinator, or, someone who could help inmates gain access to education, entertainment via laptops, specifically.
King will begin her field training in a couple of weeks after being sworn in Monday.
