Airport begins renovation on checkpoint area
Travelers should arrive two hours before their flight to avoid delays
JACKSON HOLE, Wyo. — The Jackson Hole Airport will begin construction on the Transportation Security Administration’s (TSA) checkpoint on January 3, 2022. Beginning January 18, airport users will start moving through a temporary checkpoint.
The TSA security screening checkpoint is the oldest part of the terminal building at the Jackson Hole Airport. The checkpoint will undergo a complete remodel to accommodate new security screening technology.
Passengers will start to see changes to the TSA checkpoint on January 3. The temporary checkpoint area will have only two screening lanes while additional screening equipment is being moved in place to accommodate three screening lanes. Three lanes will be in place beginning January 20 and will continue for the duration of the TSA checkpoint project.
Part of the construction will also include the holdroom, where passengers wait to board planes, adjacent to the checkpoint. This project will create additional seating and flexible free-standing space for travelers.
Both projects will begin on January 19 and are targeted to be completed by June 27, 2022 to coincide with the runway re-opening.
“We are working with our partners, airline and staff to ensure a smooth process while the TSA checkpoint and holdroom are under construction,” says airport director Jim Elwood. “Our motto is ‘People Helping People,’ and we will be throughout the airport to support you during construction. In addition, we hope that our community and travelers will have extra patience during this project and assist us in arriving early for their flights to guarantee a successful airport experience.”
Upon completion, travelers can expect to experience improved customer service at the checkpoint with four active screening lanes.
Airport officials encourage travelers to arrive two hours before their departure due to construction and best practices. As a reminder, checked luggage must be checked-in 45 minutes before the scheduled departure time. TSA cannot receive and screen your bags after this time for any reason.
