Moose outlast spirited St. Louis team
JACKSON HOLE, Wyo. — The Jackson Hole Moose gutted out two tough victories over first-time opponents St. Louis Spirit last weekend.
Jackson 7, St. Louis 4
The Moose staked themselves to a 2-goal lead early in Friday’s contest but the Spirit potted 4 in the 2nd period to knot the score headed into the final frame.
Moose goaltender Robbie Leslie slammed the door in the 3rd, and the Moose struck three times on goals from Charlie Bemis, Davis Bruch, and AJ Sanders to salt away the victory.
Jackson spread the scoring around judiciously with goals from six different skaters. Mike Longo led the way with the game’s opening goal as he also picked up an assist. Drew Akins added two helpers as did Ryan Glantz.
Jackson 7, St. Louis 5
Jason Reece, slotted up to the top line with his return to the lineup, notched the hattrick Saturday to help Jackson to a 7-5 win.
The second period continues to be a problem for the Moose as they came out sluggish after the first intermission and allowed St. Louis back into the game. It could have been worse but Moose netminder Nick Krauss made some spectacular saves (45 on 50 shots) to hold the fort.
Reese (3G, 2A) and Sanders (0G, 5A) led the way for Jackson.

With the wins, Jackson is now 12-2 on the season. They face off against the Phoenix Desert Dogs this weekend at the Snow King Sports and Event Center.
Dear Jh Press,
Thank you for creating an alternative news source for the Jackson region. You obviously realized a need for information with a wider perspective. I would encourage you to cover all high school sports, not just baseball, basketball, and football. Club sports like hockey and lacrosse have a huge following in the valley and are basically ignored until you win a state championship. Our boys varsity team is currently 3rd in the state and the girls high school team (State champs 2 years running) is 2nd, behind rival Park County. Their success deserves to be recognized.
Thank you for your consideration of this matter,
Gregg Otto
Absolutely agreed, Greg. It’s a matter of bandwidth for us. To the degree these club sports can help with outreach, pressers, photos, and any other news items, we would be happy to shine a light on the achievements of hockey, lacrosse, et al. As we grow, we hope to be able to assign beat reporters to cover EVERYTHING to the degree possible. Thanks for bringing this up.
