JACKSON HOLE, Wyo. — The skinny ski season is coming to a close for many groomed trails in Jackson Hole.
Jackson Hole Nordic Alliance (JH Nordic) says this winter season has been exceptionally good for Nordic skiing in spite of the historic low snowpack and temperature swings. While many popular groomed trails will cease grooming in mid-late March, crust-cruising is quite excellent in late March-early April.
With fresh snow falling this week, stay tuned via the JH Nordic Daily Trail Reports to track the latest grooming information and conditions on the Nordic trails. These daily trail reports consist of weather conditions, grooming schedules, suggested trails to enjoy, events, storytelling, and all the latest information on what to expect from all winter trails including Nordic skiing, fat biking, trail running, family-fun, and snowshoeing.
JH Nordic urges the Jackson Hole community to enjoy groomed trails while they still can. Keep in mind much of the grooming is dependent on the location of the trails themselves. Here are some last grooming dates to take note of:
- Grand Teton National Park (Friday, March 11)
- Turpin Meadow Ranch (Monday, March 14)
- TC/J Parks & Recreation groomed trails (mid-late March)
- Trail Creek Nordic (April 1)
- Grand Targhee and Teton Canyon (Early April)
Every winter, JH Nordic holds a Photo Buff Competition and now it’s underway again. Submit your best photos of your winter season and your photo could be on the 2022-23 JH Nordic buff. This unique buff is stylized and manufactured by local company, Avalon 7.
The first-place winner will receive 10 of the new buff (value $200) and prizes from JH Nordic Alliance members like Stio, Kate’s Real Food, Friends of Pathways, JD High Country Outfitters, The Hole Hiking Experience, Trilipiderm, Skinny Skis, and more. Contest deadline: May 1, 2022.
