Injured skier spends night in a yurt before rescue
JACKSON HOLE, Wyo. — An injured skier spent the night in a yurt until assisted from the backcountry by Teton County Search and Rescue.
TCSAR received a call about an injured skier Monday night. A male had injured his knee skiing at the Baldy Knoll Yurt on the west slope of the Tetons. Search and Rescue and the skier made a plan about an evac, agreeing that immediate assistance was not necessary. The skier spent the evening at the yurt until the following morning.
This morning at 7:30am, two TCSAR volunteers who live in Teton Valley departed on two snowmobiles and arrived at the yurt at 8:10am. On scene, they splinted the skier’s knee and transported him via snowmachine 5.5 miles to the trailhead. The volunteers were out of the field by 9:17am.
