A pair of incidents on the river keep Teton Idaho Search & Rescue busy on Father’s Day
JACKSON HOLE, Wyo. — Teton County Idaho Search and Rescue spent Father’s Day in the river executing two emergency calls for service.
TCISAR was called out Sunday afternoon around 2pm to assist with a party of two who had become stranded on an island while floating a popular stretch of the river. As the team prepped to assist them, a passing raft was able to rescue them.
Later, around 11pm, the team was called out to assist a party of four who also suffered a mishap and were stranded on an island in the Teton. Eleven team members responded, breaking out the jet boat. The team was able to transport the stranded group to their shuttle before midnight.
Both incidents serve as good reminders that the Teton River is still flowing fast and strong, and the weather is unpredictable, say rescuers. Spare clothing, a PFD, and a backup plan are essential items to pack for your float.
