Art upcycler Elizabeth Morisette to weave show at Center
JACKSON HOLE, Wyo. — Center for The Arts will host an artist talk during the EcoFair for visiting artist Elizabeth Morisette. On May 14, Morisette will transform the Center Theater Gallery with her colorful tapestries made entirely from upcycled materials.
Morisette has exhibited her weavings and sculptures, made from repurposed materials, for over 25 years. As a child, she was constantly making environments out of found objects. Morisette works as the education coordinator at the Museum of Art Fort Collins. She is currently based in Fort Collins, Colorado where she continues to make art and teach all ages.
Community members and visitors alike will have the opportunity to meet the artist and learn about her work at the annual EcoFair, hosted by Energy Conservation Works, in the Center Park. Elizabeth will lead a hands-on activity with recycled books at her booth on the Center Park from 2–3pm followed by an artist talk and tour of her works in the Theater Gallery from 3:30–4:30pm.
“The Center is excited to partner with the EcoFair and host visiting artist Elizabeth Morisette to help us celebrate art and sustainability,” said The Center’s creative initiatives director Oona Doherty. “This is a great opportunity to highlight art made from recycled materials when our attention is focused on sustainable living here in the valley at the EcoFair.”
The exhibit, called Artifact, will run May 2 to June 10 offering time for community members to stop by the Center Theater Gallery and view Morisette’s work. Individuals or groups are welcome to visit The Center anytime during open hours to view the show.
