Controlled burn in Mosquito Creek wraps up

JACKSON HOLE, Wyo. — Forest officials wrapped up a controlled burn in the Mosquito Creek area as part of the Teton to Snake Fuels Reduction Project for this spring.

Teton Interagency Resources were able to ignite approximately 200 acres of the Mosquito Creek drainage in the past couple of days.

The area was closed to the public when firing began May 5 due to the use of aviation resources in support of the project. The burn ran from Thursday through Sunday without incident.

The lower section of Mosquito Creek Road is now open again for public use as a few firefighters will remain in the area to make sure everything is out.
