East entrance closed for avalanche danger

JACKSON HOLE, Wyo. — Yellowstone Park officials are worried about warming temperatures causing heightened avalanche danger in Sylvan Pass. As a result, the East Entrance Road between the East Entrance and Fishing Bridge will close for periods of time Monday, May 16 through Wednesday, May 18.

That section of road was closed abruptly this morning at 11am. It will remain closed until 7pm. Midday closures are also anticipated during the warmest parts of the day this Tuesday and Wednesday.
