ECW: EcoFair is back this spring

May 14 on the Center Lawn

JACKSON HOLE, Wyo. — Spring is just around the corner and this year Jackson Hole residents and visitors will once again have the opportunity to gather and celebrate simple and sustainable living in the Tetons.

After a two-year break due to Covid safety concerns, the annual Jackson EcoFair will return to the second Saturday in May. Hosted by Energy Conservation Works (ECW), this annual celebration of environmental stewardship and sustainability calls on community members to caretake this special valley through simple and thoughtful living.

The 2022 EcoFair will take place on Saturday, May 14, from 12-5pm at the Center Lawn at the Jackson Hole Center for the Arts. Admission is free with a suggested donation of $5. Approximately 60 regional businesses, nonprofits, and government agencies will showcase their sustainability initiatives and sell their eco-wares at the event. EcoFair is the culmination of the Town of Jackson and Teton County Spring Clean-up week, and partners with the Jackson Hole Rotary Club’s annual Spring CleanUp effort.

Fairgoers come out to EcoFair to learn about eco-friendly living and to be inspired to take their own sustainability actions. In the spirit of EcoFair, participants are encouraged to ‘BYO’ water bottle/mug and walk, bike, carpool or bus to the event. And remember, no dogs are not allowed.

EcoFair is a 100% green power event and also operates on a zero waste model through both promotion and practice. Fairgoers can drop off old CFL light bulbs and small e-waste items (batteries, cell phones, tablet, laptops, etc.) to be recycled. All booth or exhibit hosts abide by our Go Eco! guidelines, and the overall carbon footprint of the event is offset via the Rocky Mountain Institute’s Good Traveler program. All food and beverage service at EcoFair utilizes reusable serviceware—there are NO disposable cups at EcoFair!

“Regular EcoFair attendees will see an event that looks a little different this year, as we are still navigating a changing public health landscape,” says ECW executive director Phil Cameron. “But we are excited to bring back this important community tradition and once again gather together as a community to celebrate the inspiring sustainability efforts taking place in Jackson Hole and the surrounding area.”

EcoFair is possible as a result of generous local supporters, including the Teton County Integrated Solid Waste & Recycling, Teton Conservation District, the Jackson Hole Airport, AVANT Delivery, and JH EcoTour Adventures.

EcoFair was put off for 2020 and 2021 due to COVID restrictions. (ECW)
