Fires coming under control with recent moisture

JACKSON HOLE, Wyo. — Recent heavy rain has been very welcome. Still, area fires persist as does the danger of new starts.

Located at the headwaters of the Little Granite Creek, this two-acre fire called the Little Granite Fire was discovered Tuesday, August 3. It is unknown how the fire started.

Six firefighters are on-scene following a full suppression strategy. The fire is currently burning in a mixture of both aspen and mixed conifer with moderate spread potential.

The Soda Lake Fire is all but out. An update today puts the 96-acre  blaze at 90% containment, and closures have been rescinded. Some temporary closures on the South Cottonwood Road will remain in place for the safety of resources on the ground.

The Stewart Creek Fire in the Greys is considered contained at .15 acre.
