Gov. Gordon polls well in popularity

Poll finds Wyoming governor with 5th highest approval rating in the nation

JACKSON HOLE, Wyo. — A recent poll pegged Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon as the 5th most popular governor in the nation. Gordon’s 66% approval rating was best out west, ahead of Utah’s Spencer Cox (62%), Montana’s Greg Gianforte (59%), South Dakota’s Kristi Noem (58%), Colorado’s Jared Polis (57%), and Idaho’s Brad Little (55%).

Republicans dominated the Morning Consult poll, taking 9 of the top 10 spots. Responses for the poll were gathered between July 21 and Oct. 20 among registered voters in each state. There is a margin of error of plus or minus 4%.

The 33rd Wyoming governor has faced numerous challenges since he took office in 2019. Almost immediately, Gordon was thrust into a pandemic. In taking measures to keep his constituents safe against COVID, the governor adopted various strategies while trying to protect personal freedoms and the state’s economy.

Speaking of the economy, the former state treasurer has also faced the daunting task of steering the state through difficult financial times as waning demand for coal, along with plummeting oil and gas prices, has put the state budget through the wringer.

Of late, Gordon appears to have gained popularity points with a majority of Wyoming citizens with his stance against federal overreach and ‘Big Government’ DC politics.
