JH Airport employees will all have to get the shot
Vaccination mandates will apply to screeners, snow plow drivers, admin—nearly everyone
JACKSON HOLE, Wyo. — As COVID vaccinations become more and more a point of contention between employers and employees across the nation, Jackson Hole Airport announced it will require all employees to get vaxxed. Airport director Jim Elwood says he has no choice in the matter.
Executive Order 14042, issued by the Biden Administration, means all Jackson Hole Airport Board employees must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 by December 8, 2021. The Federal COVID-19 vaccination mandate applies to all employees of federal contractors, and that includes Jackson Hole Airport’s transportation security officers, operations staff, administration staff, and seasonal staff like snow removal operators and airport hosts.
“We recognize and respect a variety of opinions on this issue and where people might be coming from,” Elwood said. “But because we have a contract with the Transportation Security Administration, we must comply with the federal vaccine mandate. We know this mandate will create additional challenges for our staff and organization—to what degree time will tell—but this regulation was issued at the federal level and the Jackson Hole Airport Board is required to comply with it.”
Vaccination requirements will not extend to airport concessionaires such as employees of Jedediah’s.
