Last chance to comment on Downtown Wilson project
JACKSON HOLE, Wyo. – It’s last call on your input for downtown Wilson.
The Wilson Downtown Improvement Plan is in the final stages. One last round of public comment is being solicited before the project moves forward to final design and construction.
Based on previous public comment and further analysis, Teton County, in partnership with the Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT), Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), and the community of Wilson, has developed a preliminary concept to safely accommodate motorists, transit users, bicyclists, and pedestrians on and parallel to Wyoming Highway 22 through Wilson from approximately Elliott Cemetery Road to Wenzel Lane.
The preferred concepts address a variety of areas for improvement, such as vehicular capacity and safety, access management, pathway development, safe routes to school, pedestrian crossings, and corridor aesthetics.
The public is encouraged to provide input to the Planning Team on the preferred concepts for Wyoming Highway 22 through and around Wilson. A virtual open house to learn more about the proposed preliminary concepts and provide feedback is available online, and will be open through May 7, 2021. This will be the final opportunity to provide public comment on the project.
After May 7, public input will be used to develop final recommendations to go before the County Commissioners & WYDOT for their considerations. The final Wilson Downtown Improvement Plan, if approved, will move forward to final design and construction and be funded by the recently approved 2020 BUILD transportation improvements grant and Teton County.
