One22 Resource Center’s Jackson Cupboard reopens on Gill Street

Jackson Cupboard offers a wide range of grocery and household items

JACKSON HOLE, Wyo. — After a soft opening last week, One22 Resource Center confirmed Jackson Cupboard is up and running. Its temporary location off Gill Street will offer a wide variety of produce, dairy, proteins, and non-perishable household items.

Behind Teton Barber and Wyoming Workforce Services, the new location will serve people with an online order format. Through a platform called SmartChoice, shoppers can place advance orders selecting from a wide range of groceries and household items and schedule a pick-up appointment during drive-through or walk-up hours.

SmartChoice also allows for greater language accessibility for a diverse and multicultural community, increased autonomy and shopper choice, and builds efficiencies to help manage workloads for One22 staff and volunteers.

Seasonal produce is available as well as personal care and household items donated through St. John’s Episcopal Church’s Blue Bag Drive.

The Jackson Cupboard main location was closed in early January after flooding forced a temporary move.

“The rising cost of groceries, services and gas is putting an increasing strain on individuals and families in our community. The Jackson Cupboard serves as an opportunity for folks to balance their grocery needs and monthly budgets,” says One22 Resource Center executive director Sharel Lund. “More people in our community need food assistance and continue to access One22’s other financial resources including rent and childcare assistance, youth activity scholarships, and a new first/last/deposit program.”

One22 Resource Center completed a shopper survey, which showed many clients preferred to pick up orders rather than shop in person. However, the need for space to operate at the scale needed for the community means a larger area is a necessity. The survey also highlighted that many prefer weekday pick-ups as their work in tourism industries keeps them busy nights and weekends.

A selection of 20 staples, including fresh produce, milk, eggs, items from Hole Food Rescue, and non-perishable items, remains available for immediate needs at the Jackson/Teton County Recreation Center during its regular open hours.

The Rec Center has served as a generous host, providing meeting rooms over the last months while One22 looked for another space.

“We are grateful for a community that always shows up to help, volunteer and provide resources to One22 and our clients,” says Nastassia Cruz, One22’s volunteer manager. “A core group of volunteers was critical in meeting needs over the last two months at the Rec Center. They re-stocked multiple times per day and kept this essential service available for so many, and we appreciate each of their time and efforts.”

Community organizations such as Wilson Elementary School and Teton County Dems have recently held food drives for the Jackson Cupboard. As many in the community want to help, One22 is working on updating the website for food drive guidance and lists of items needed.

Food donations are now being accepted; visit the website to learn more and see what specific items are needed, and when donated items can be received.
