Pig carcass, garbage left in Pole Canyon
JACKSON HOLE, Wyo. — Hikers are being warned of a possible bear attractant in the Pole Canyon area in Teton Valley.
Teton County Sheriff’s Office (Idaho) advised campers, hikers, and other backcountry users of Pole Canyon to be aware that sometime Saturday someone left a pig carcass along with some garbage near the trail head of Pole Canyon. A Fish and Game officer removed the carcass but scent may still linger there.
“We would like to caution hikers in this area to be bear aware. Due to the smell it could bring in bears and other wild animals,” the Sheriff’s Office stated.
