JACKSON HOLE, Wyo. — Longtime Wyoming House Representative Andy Schwartz (D-Jackson) announced over the weekend he will not seek reelection this fall.
Schwartz has represented District 23 since 2015. He made the disclosure at the Teton Democratic Convention Saturday.
“The decision was not an easy one, and I am not going to pretend I don’t have misgivings, but without going into the reasons, both personal and political, I am convinced it is the right thing to do,” Schwartz stated on Facebook. “It is time for a new voice and a new face to represent HD23.”
Prior to serving at the state level, Schwartz was a Teton County commissioner from 2000-2012.
“It has been an incredible honor to serve this community, both as a county commissioner and as a legislator, and I am thankful to the voters of Teton County for the opportunity. I am proud of my accomplishments, and hope I have made Jackson Hole and Wyoming a better place to live,” Schwartz added.
