Search and Rescue has a busy and late Friday night
JACKSON HOLE, Wyo. — Teton County Search and Rescue had a busy Friday night, with two callouts on the westside of the Tetons.
At 6:25pm on July 16, an Idaho Falls man called to say that his sister and her two daughters were late returning from Darby Canyon. They had apparently planned to hike up to the Wind Cave, enter partway, and come back out. They were five hours late from when they had planned to be back home.
A TCSAR member who lives in Teton Valley responded to the trailhead, and found the overdue party at their vehicle. The hike had taken longer than anticipated, and all were okay.
At 11pm that same night, a woman called to report that her sister and brother-in-law were overdue and possibly lost after hiking Table Mountain. TCSAR sent two light and fast teams, one up the Face Trail and another up North Teton Trail. The volunteers arrived at the trailhead at 1am and set out into the dark.
At 1:54am, the team on the North Teton Trail found the lost hikers, who were unhurt but very relieved to see help arrive. The volunteers then escorted the hikers out to the trailhead and everyone called it a night.
