Snake River especially tricky right now
JACKSON HOLE, Wyo. — Challenging conditions in the Snake River have caused more than a few issues for some users.
Teton County Search and Rescue is warning river runners to be extra vigilant about safety and to know your limits when it comes to floating the Snake.
“In the past month or so, our team has been alerted to more drift boat accidents on the Snake River than anyone can recall in recent memory. Above average flows for this time of year have sustained strong currents, deceptive eddylines, and dangerous strainers deep into the season,” the agency commented.
Anyone planning a day on the river should make sure they are aware of the hazards, always wear a life jacket, and don’t let the sleeper lines ruin your day…or worse.
