Snow King Mountain to perform avalanche mitigation for Hill Climb
Dog owners asked to prepare accordingly
JACKSON HOLE, Wyo. — Hang on to your dogs, East Jackson, Snow King will be bombing the mountain tonight at 6pm.
Well, if the bra-a-ap isn’t enough noise for those living at the base of Snow King Mountain, the resort today announced it will be performing avalanche mitigation today from about 6–7pm due to warming temperatures.
It’s perhaps being a bit overcautious, Snow King admits, but better safe than sorry as highs expected in the 60s today and through the weekend could cause the snowpack to get heavy and sloshy.
Ski patrol will detonate explosives on the Wolverine ski run in an effort to mitigate potential avalanche hazards during operating hours. It is anticipated that these planned explosions will only last for a short duration of time; however, but the King wanted to advise the public of potential loud noises at some point between 6–7pm.
“We understand that loud bangs can cause unnerving situations for pets. Please plan to have pets in place where they feel comfortable and are secure,” the resort stated.
