Soda Lake Fire at 40 acres near Big Piney

JACKSON HOLE, Wyo. — A new fire start was discovered in the Big Piney Ranger District south of Soda Lake yesterday afternoon around 3pm.

The Soda Lake Fire is at an estimated 40 acres and growing rapidly. Initial attack is being supported by Sublette County Unified Fire. Crews are pursuing a full-suppression strategy.

The fire is burning three miles west of the U.S. Forest Service-Bridger-Teton National Forest boundary. Multiple values are at risk on nearby Bureau of Land Management – Wyoming, state, and private land including gas wells.

Fire aviation and ground crews need space to operate safely. Please avoid the area and no drones. Remember that if you fly, they can’t.
