START Bus axes stop on Star Valley route
JACKSON HOLE, Wyo. – The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) has advised START Bus that the existing stop on Wyoming Highway 89 at County Road 106 will be discontinued due to a road widening project.
Effective Monday, May 10, 2021 this bus stop will be discontinued. This closure will impact the Star Valley commuter bus route.
Riders are advised that the closest stop locations would be the Star Valley Community Center in Etna, Wyoming or the KJ’s Store in Alpine, Wyoming.
At this time WYDOT has not announced a plan to replace the current location with a pull off area to allow START Buses to stop.
If you are planning on riding the START Bus this season, please remember that there is a federal mask requirement in place that was issued per President Joe Biden’s Executive Order 13998 and the Transportation Security Administration’s security directive requiring masks to be worn on all public transit systems nationwide to help reduce the spread of COVID-19. This means that face coverings must be worn on all START buses, at all bus stops and shelters, and at any location where START Bus tickets or passes are bought or sold.
START Bus encourages residents and visitors to safely support the reduction of traffic this spring by riding START Bus, walking or biking. Please remember when utilizing START bus, riders are asked to continue practicing social distancing when possible, using hand sanitizer when boarding and departing the bus, staying home when sick and wearing a mask.
