Still in red, still in masks…and now omicron
JACKSON HOLE, Wyo. — COVID metrics have been trending down over the past month but the county remains masked up and in ‘red.’
With the predominant delta variant waning enough last week to put Teton County, technically and briefly, in the ‘orange’ category according by CDC guidelines, health officials say we are still considered in the high-risk category.
Teton County currently has 28 active cases of COVID. Nixle alerts over the past two months show an encouraging trend. In September, county health officials were logging some 230-250 new cases every two weeks. Lately, those numbers have been down significantly.
- October 28 report (84 cases)
- November 4, (62 cases)
- November 12, (56 cases)
- November 17 (42 cases)
- November 24 (47 cases)
- December 2 (27 cases)
Even with the delta variant showing signs of slowing in Teton County, fears over a new tweak—omicron—are already causing a global ramp up of pandemic-slowing measures.
Town and county leaders, with the possible exception of Greg Epstein and Mark Barron, have expressed no interest in removing the countywide mask mandate scheduled to run through the remainder of 2021.
