Super Mario earns rock for steady START bussing
JACKSON HOLE, Wyo. — Congratulations go out to Luis “Mario” Lucha, custodian with START Bus.
Lucha is the recipient of this month’s Value Jackson Award. He’s the seasonal custodian for START Bus. Everyone at START knows Mario and respects his work ethic. In the midst of a pandemic he’s the guy that prepares every bus before it goes into service to make sure that it is safe and clean for the riders and the drivers.
He cleans between 10-16 buses every day in the winter months—changing air filters, misting each bus with a disinfectant, wiping down all of the surface areas, cleaning the floor, sweeping, removing the trash.
“We can’t say enough great things about Mario. He’s a super hard worker who’s always ready to what needs to be done to prepare the buses for the public,” says Jeff Deal, transit operations manager.
Lucha has been in Jackson for seven years and has been with START Bus the past four years.
“I love everything about my job,” Lucha says.
He’s married and a father of three children, the youngest is 8 months old. Mario epitomizes the values of the town of “It is my job, it is our job,” as well as “Customer service and focus.”
Transit supervisor Craig Lewis presented Mario with this award in recognition of Mario’s professionalism, dedication and customer service.
