Town says masks stay on for the rest of the year

Council votes to extend COVID-19 to COVID-22

JACKSON HOLE, Wyo. — At a special meeting Monday, Town Council voted unanimously to extend local Health Officer Travis Riddell’s Health Order requiring face coverings while the town and county are in the red or orange risk levels as determined by the Center for Disease Control (CDC).

Dr. Riddell put Health Order 21-5 in effect on August 26. With recent changes to state statute, it would have been in effect only ten days, until September 4. Town Council extended the order, effective within town limits only, through December 31.

Mayor Morton Levinson expressed support for the motion to extend the health order with the three other councilmembers present. “I see it as a practical way to keep life going with the virus so present in our community,” she said.

The Town Council will also continue virtual meetings through September, and revisit this policy to not hold meetings in-person each month.
