WHP trooper injured, suspect killed in exchange of gunfire
Routine traffic stop in Lander leads to fatal shootout
JACKSON HOLE, Wyo. — An exchange of gunfire after a traffic stop near Lander resulted in injuries to a Wyoming State trooper and the death of the suspect.
Wyoming Highway Patrol reported a trooper was seriously injured in a shootout with a suspect during a traffic stop on Sinks Canyon Road Friday afternoon. The incident occurred at 3:26pm.
Details of the investigation are still emerging. The Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation will be conducting the investigation as standard operating procedure for all WHP officer involved shootings.
