Wildland fire prevention discussion set for Tuesday
JACKSON HOLE, Wyo. — Is it ever too early to start thinking about and preparing for wildland fire season? Thanks to a newly created position at Jackson Hole/Fire EMS, the community has an added resource for wildland fire education.
In July 2021, the Teton County Board of County Commissioners approved funding for a full-time Wildland Fire Prevention Specialist (WFPS). Fire Inspector Bobbi Clauson was hired to fill the role, which aims to educate community members on wildland fire safety, prevention, and preparedness.
Clauson, and members from the Teton Area Wildfire Protection Coalition (TAWPC), will host a discussion on building a fire adapted community this Tuesday, February 15, from 4:30 to 6:30pm in the Teton County Library Ordway Auditorium.
“Building a fire adapted community allows neighbors to collaborate and cooperate with a shared goal of life safety and property protection during a wildland fire,” Clauson says.
The discussion will provide attendees with important education and tools for learning how to live in a community where wildland fire is a threat. There is no cost to attending the event.
