JACKSON HOLE, Wyo. — Town manager Larry Pardee is leading Town Council through an extensive dialogue about the future funding of local government aimed at preserving, restoring, and investing in the best possible future for Jackson.
The overarching goal of town leadership is to diversify and develop sustainable funding to meet the community’s needs over the long-term. The town has fared well through the pandemic, financially. But one thing learned from the experience is the town’s dependence on sales tax as the main funding source can be precarious at times.
More varied sources of revenue are needed for future success, says Pardee.
The dialogue has been ongoing now for months, focused on identifying and reviewing revenues and expenditures, considering a framework of community priorities, identifying future expenditures, matching potential funding sources with expenditures, and setting steps for implementation and action.
The next step in the discussion takes place at a special workshop at 9am on November 1.
