Mountain lion captured in Lander, relocated
JACKSON HOLE, Wyo. — Game managers were fairly certain they had a mountain lion prowling around downtown, based on numerous reports and eyewitness accounts. Finally, Wyoming Game and Fish Department managed to locate the cat and gave it a new home.
Game and Fish captured the sub-adult female mountain lion on New Year’s Day after it had killed a deer adjacent to McManus Park. The young female was healthy and in good condition.
While the lion was never known to be involved in any type of conflicts, officials worried she had acclimated to city life and become ‘localized’ to the city of Lander.
The mountain lion was released to a more remote area of Fremont County.
