Star Valley Search & Rescue logs busy Saturday
Back-to-back pageouts both require air evac
JACKSON HOLE, Wyo. — Star Valley Search and Rescue was busy last Saturday with back-to-back pageouts for assistance in the backcountry.
An initial page came in at approximately 1:40pm for a medical incident about a mile up Prater Canyon. The RP stated that one adult may be having a heart attack. When Search and Rescue arrived they were able to get to the patient and bring them to an LZ where a helicopter was staged.
The second incident came in just as the team was finishing up. A Garmin InReach activation near Crystal Creek had SVSAR scrambling once more.
As more information trickled in, rescue teams learned a person had been caught in an avalanche and was carried downhill before colliding with a tree. The patient had a broken femur and some external bleeding. The unidentified male was also transported by heli thanks to Air Idaho Rescue.
