Becoming a US citizen—Jackson Hole style
Free 2-day series helps with naturalization process, paperwork
JACKSON HOLE, Wyo. — The inaugural Jackson Hole Citizenship Series is a two-day program that will share information about the process and advantages of becoming a naturalized citizen, and includes free legal assistance with completing naturalization paperwork.
“Citizenship is the most stable, secure immigration status available in the United States, and it enables meaningful civic engagement, including voting at all levels. Naturalization is hugely beneficial for both the individual and the community at large,” says Rosie Read, Immigration Staff Attorney with the ACLU of Wyoming.
A Citizenship Info Night will take place on May 31 from 5:00–6:30pm at the Teton County Library Auditorium. Citizenship Day will take place on June 11 from 2–5pm at the Teton County Library Auditorium.
Read will discuss the naturalization process, requirements for eligibility, and rights associated with U.S. citizenship at the information session on May 31. Volunteer attorneys will provide no-cost assistance with completing naturalization application packets on Citizenship Day.
Voices JH is seeking attorneys willing to support green card holders in completing their citizenship applications on June 11. Training will be provided, and no immigration experience is necessary. If you are an interested attorney, please reach out to Jordan Rich.
The Jackson Hole Citizenship Series is a collaborative effort by the ACLU of Wyoming, Immigrant Hope, Teton County Democratic Party, Teton County Republicans, and Voices JH. The Citizenship Series is part of a larger celebration in June for Immigrant Heritage Month.
