Back to [yawn] High with COVID risk
Health Department says it will stop sounding the alert from here on out
JACKSON HOLE, Wyo. — Health officials today announced the county is moving back up to High Community Level for COVID-19 according to the CDC. This increase from the Medium Community Level is a result of new hospital admissions and an increase in confirmed COVID-19 cases per 100,000 population over the last 7 days.
As of June 23, Teton County has averaged 19.3 cases per day for the past seven days for a total of 135 cases reported. For the last 14 days, 19.3% of the tests taken at the Curative sites have received a positive result. Since June 18, 2022, St. John’s Health has admitted five patients with COVID-19.
Sounds like even the Health Department is over it
Despite the move back to High after moving to Medium just six days ago—or perhaps because of it—the Teton County Health Department says it will no longer provide press releases for each change in Community Level. It’s up to individuals to check for themselves to see how scary it is out in the world.
Jackson Hole Press vows a similar declaration. After this story, we will no longer consider any metrics changes newsworthy unless they are downward trends in the direction of acknowledging the whole pandemic watch has become more tedious than dangerous.
