Big dump coming, Winter Storm Warning in effect
JACKSON HOLE, Wyo. — All that snow we’ve been waiting on for the past three months is going to fall in the next 48 hours.
The National Weather Service (Riverton Office) is issuing a Winter Storm Warning beginning late tonight and last through late Christmas Eve, December 24. Heavy snow is expected with accumulations 8-12 inches—measuring a foot or more easy at upper elevations. Snow will be wind-driven at times by occasional gusts of 45 mph.
Travel could be very difficult to impossible. Patchy blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches.”
And the snow is not supposed to quit on Christmas Eve. Long-range forecast models are calling for snow on Christmas Day, lasting through the weekend and for much of next week.
Careful what you wish for, right? Some of us might have been doing our snow dance a little too hard.
