Driggs has new mayor, Victor lodging tax passes
JACKSON HOLE, Wyo. — The City of Driggs has a new mayor.
August Christensen defeated incumbent Hyrum Johnson with 60% of the vote in the race for mayor of Driggs. During the campaign, the longtime councilmember pressed the sitting mayor on several issues involving growth and transparency in government.
The race for city councilmember in Driggs was very evenly divided between three candidates seeking a 4-year term. Scott Stuntz and Erika Earles will be seated as 4-year councilmembers. Tristan Taylor will retain his seat as a 2-year member of city council.
In Victor, Sue Muncaster and Stacy Hulsing will be seated on the city council for 4-year terms.
Ballot confusion marred the race for school board trustee in Driggs Zone 4 after some voters were discovered having received incorrect ballots. A post-election audit found the error in absentee balloting and determined no re-run is necessary.
Kathleen Haar won that race for school board trustee in Zone 4. Ray Hinchcliff was elected trustee in Zone 3.
The Victor lodging tax passed easily with 80% of the vote.
