JACKSON HOLE, Wyo. — The Town of Jackson and Teton County Integrated Solid Waste and Recycling (ISWR) announced dates of this year’s Fall Clean-Up and Burn Week. Each year the Town of Jackson and ISWR provide an opportunity for residents of the valley to sustainably discard yard waste at no cost.
On Friday, November 5, from 9am to 6pm, residential yard waste including leaves, grass, pumpkins and branches can be brought to the Rodeo Grounds parking lot. These items will be composted locally by Terra Firma Organics instead of being hauled to a landfill 100 miles away. The Town of Jackson and ISWR are offering this service free to locals.
It is asked that all yard waste be dropped off in compostable paper yard waste bags or dropped off loose without any sort of bag. It is also asked that individuals sort through their yard waste to insure that there is no garbage or dog poo in the delivery.
This is a drop off event and there will not be a curbside collection. The service is intended for residential yard waste only and is not intended for commercial trash haulers, landscape companies or other such businesses. The public is asked not to drop off yard waste at the Rodeo Grounds before or after the operation hours (9:00am – 6:00pm) on November 5.
The Trash Transfer Station will also be accepting residential yard waste at no fee for up to 500 pounds from Monday, November 1 through Saturday, November 6. Residential yard waste will be accepted during operating hours: Monday through Friday between 7am and 3pm, and Saturday, from 9am to 1pm.
This no fee service is intended for residential customers only and discounts will not apply to commercial trash haulers, landscaping operations or other businesses. The free drop off will apply to the first 500 pounds of residential yard waste.
- Free compostable paper yard waste bags will be available beginning on Friday, October 15 at the following locations:
- Town Hall (150 East Pearl Street)
- Public Works Administrative Offices (450 West Snow King Avenue)
- Recycling Center (3270 Adams Canyon Drive)
Dates for the Fall Burn Week have also been announced. Residents wishing to conduct a controlled burn of dry grass, leaves, twigs, small branches and clean wood are asked to limit their burns between the dates of Saturday, October 30 and Sunday, November 7.
Residents planning on conducting a controlled burn must first contact the Jackson Hole Law Enforcement Agency at 733-2331 prior to striking that match. Citizens are encouraged to act responsibly and to control their burns at all times.
There will not be a pumpkin smash at this year’s Fall Clean-Up event at the Rodeo Grounds; however, residents are still encouraged to bring pumpkins that they wish to discard in order for the pumpkins to be composted locally.
