JACKSON HOLE, Wyo. — Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon says he will run for a second term, making the declaration while speaking in his hometown of Buffalo.
“Jennie and I are proud to announce that I will run for a second term as Governor of Wyoming,” Gordon said.
The governor mentioned the things he feels his office has accomplished over the past few years, and what is left to achieve.
“We’ve cut taxes, passed a budget that is $400 million less than 2020, reduced the size of state government to its smallest level in 10 years and strengthened our right to bear arms by enacting the Second Amendment Protection Act. But there is more work to do,” he said.
Little did he know when he became Wyoming’s 33rd governor that he would lead the Equality State through a global pandemic beginning just months into his first term. Gordon took over for Matt Mead after previously serving as state treasurer since 2012.
“Wyoming and the world have been through a tough stretch these past two years, but we focused on saving both lives and livelihoods,” Gordon said. “We adjusted our budget and resisted pressure to enact ‘shelter in place’ orders, which resulted in Wyoming logging more in-person school days than any state in the nation.”
In the 90-second video also released this week, Gordon pledged to remain committed to improving Wyoming’s education system by encouraging more parent involvement, recommitting to the Trump goal of American energy independence, and streamlining federal and state regulations on businesses.
