Jackson skiers bring home another state title
JACKSON HOLE, Wyo. — A wild weekend of sports wrapped up with basketball regionals, hockey over the hill in Teton Valley, and 2022 Wyoming High School State Championships in alpine skiing.
Jackson skiers won both team titles and all four individual races during the state championship weekend at Snow King Mountain. For the Broncs, it’s their 13th straight girls’ team title and 39th in school history. The boys captured their 11th consecutive team championship and 37th in school history.
Broncs lady skiers grabbed the top 5 spots in Friday’s GS run with Cadel Carrigan, Ava Ulmer, Sidney Nash, Madison Kramer, and Taylor Smith turning in the fastest runs of the day. Brynn Crabtree also notched 8th.
On the boys side, it was Nick Janssen, Travis D’Amours, Eddie Owens, Owen Janssen, Ridge Kling, and Buck Milligan finishing 1 through 6 in that order.
In girls slalom, Jackson took the top 2 podium spots and finished 4 skiers in the top 5. Taylor Smith led all competitors with a combined 1:20:18. Ava Ulmer (1:24:86) was 2nd, Madison Kramer (1:26:08) and Brynn Crabtree (1:33:43) finished 4th and 5th, respectively.
Boys slalom saw a Jackson sweep of the first 4 finishers. Travis D’Amours (1:13:49) topped the podium with Nick Janssen (1:13:95), Owen Janssen (1:15:76), and Eddie Owens (1:19:62) not far off the pace.
Overall, the Jackson girls finished the two days of the state championships with 146 team points. Kelly Walsh was 2nd (72) and Cody was 3rd (58). The boys also scored 146 total points, with Natrona County 2nd (654) and Kelly Walsh 3rd (54)
