Library collecting food donations through May

JACKSON HOLE, Wyo. — During the quiet of the off-season, Teton County Library is hosting a food drive so locals can help locals by donating non-perishable food and other items.

Bring your food donations to the Jackson Main Library’s service desks. Collections will be used to benefit Jackson Cupboard. Items brought to the Alta Branch Library will be donated to the Teton Valley Food Pantry. The drive lasts throughout May.

“The library’s long tradition of collecting donations for the Cupboard and Food Pantry was formerly part of an overdue fine amnesty program,” says Angela Jordan, the library’s adult services manager. “But since we eliminated overdue fines last year, we hope the community will continue to donate just for the sake of helping other locals.”

Food donations may include sealed, store-purchased jars, cans, or pastas, while staples like laundry and dish soap and feminine hygiene products are also welcome. Items should be brought inside the library during open hours, please do not leave donations outside the library doors.

During its last drive, the main library collected 1,598 pounds of food, and the Alta Branch collected 150 pounds.
