Local lawmakers effective at state level Budget Session
JACKSON HOLE, Wyo. — Local state lawmakers found a measure of success at this year’s Legislative Budget Session.
Representative Mike Yin’s County Optional Property Tax Refund Program passed and is now an enrolled act. The Legislature also funded a statewide property tax refund program with $3 million this year. The initiatives will allow local residents options to offset the intense market forces affecting the real estate market.
With the help of town staff and colleagues at the county, Teton Village, and WYDOT, Senator Mike Gierau submitted an interim topic to consider permitting HOV lanes in the state. Management Council will officially discuss and assign possible interim topics on April 8. The intended goal will be for the committee to discuss and create statutes related to enforcement to protect the integrity of HOV facilities, promote safety and efficiency, and deter violators.
The Wyoming Association of Municipalities (WAM) is also planning to host a statewide discussion about Workforce Housing in the coming year
