Longtime trustee Joe Albright quits hospital board
JACKSON HOLE, Wyo. — A search for a replacement on the St. John’s Health Board of Trustees is underway after longtime trustee Joe Albright tendered his resignation Tuesday, November 9.
The St. John’s Health Board is accepting written expressions of interest for the position of Trustee of Teton County Hospital District, dba St. John’s Health. The vacancy was created upon the resignation of longtime Trustee Joe Albright, who submitted his letter of resignation to board chair Sue Critzer.
Albright spent 12 years on the board. He cited his job as a Covid case investigator with the Teton County Health Department as a reason for his departure.
“It turns out there is not enough time in the week to do both jobs well while also keeping an eye on the operations of the Flat Creek Ranch,” Albright said. “I leave the board with a conviction that the hospital is in good hands—even during the stressful times when all hospitals in the country are hurting from COVID.”
Chair Critzer stated, “During his tenure, Joe made many significant contributions to St. John’s Health, most recently serving on our quality and facilities committees, taking a very active role in the planning and opening of Sage Living, and mentoring new trustee. Joe will always be a valued part of the St. John’s family.”
In addition to his twelve years on the board, Albright also volunteered his time generously to assist as an Affordable Care Act (ACA) navigator, helping Teton County community members register for health insurance.
Following Wyoming state statute, St. John’s Health trustees will appoint a candidate to fill the board vacancy. The appointment is effective from the date the new trustee is sworn in through the Teton County general election in November 2022. Albright will stay on as a trustee until a successor is appointed.
Written expressions of interest in the trustee vacancy should be sent via email to Karen Connelly. kconnelly@stjohns.health. Upon receipt of expressions of interest, candidates will receive an application that should be completed and submitted by December 6.
Trustee interviews with final candidates will be held the morning of January 10, 2022 in meetings open to the public. The Board of Trustees expects to fill the vacancy at its regular monthly public meeting later that day. According to state statute, except for employees of St. John’s Health, any qualified elector resident in Teton County (which comprises the hospital district) is eligible to serve.
