Only in Jackson Hole: Affordable home lists for $2M
JACKSON HOLE, Wyo. — The Jackson/Teton County Affordable Housing Department today shared news that their latest listing is a “unique home in our inventory.”
That’s putting it mildly. The Workforce Restricted property is listed at $1,950,000.
To be fair, the home is not one specifically built by the department for expressed use in the affordable housing cause. The home, at 4163 Melody Ranch Drive, is also one of the rarer commodities to come on the market under the Affordable Housing banner as it is the only property with no appreciation cap. A seller can set any price.
The 5 BR, 3.5 BA, 2,918-sf home comes with its own 1 Br, 1 BA efficiency apartment, though a fly in the ointment is Melody Ranch HOA rules will not allow the rental of said apartment. So, your mother-in-law or your maid is probably moving in.
The Housing Department is being tasked with facilitating the sale of this home. That includes duties like listing the home, conducting a drawing for the home, and qualifying a buyer.
While a demand for a high-end ‘workforce housing’ home does exist (just ask any doctor, lawyer, or other valley professional), seeing the Affordable Housing Department’s latest listing and the whopping $1.95M price tag is soul crushing.
