Quiet night on the Sandy
Firefighters keeping the blaze in check headed into the weekend
JACKSON HOLE, Wyo. — Firefighters spending their 4th of July weekend on the Sandy incident are doing an outstanding job holding that blaze at bay.
The Sandy Fire grew slightly over the past 24-hour period from 99 to 105 acres.
A Type 3 incident team took over on the incident this weekend. They are deploying Type 1 helicopters, 2 Type II 20-person hand crews, 2 Type 3 helicopters, and numerous local firefighters.
An area closure is in effect for firefighter and public safety. Portions of the Cliff Creek, Highline and Bondurant Creek trails are closed, among others.
