JACKSON HOLE, Wyo. — The Teton Raptor Center doesn’t always get to see a rehabilitated bird fly off back into the wild. In the case of one golden eagle last week, a long-term patient is flying off to a new home, but with someone else doing the flying.
Golden Eagle 4.2.21 (so named for the date she was admitted) was shipped off to her permanent home EcoTarium in Worcester, Massachusetts.
Golden Eagle 4.2 was originally found in last April in Farson, Wyoming. She was grounded, unable to fly.
After admitting her to the clinic, medical experts did a full exam and found her to be mostly healthy. However, she would never fly again and seemed quite used to human presence.
Eventually, the golden eagle was deemed non-releasable and found a permanent home. She will be an “exhibit bird” at the EcoTarium and reside in a large outdoor enclosure. Judging from the time spent at the Raptor Center, folks there know she will fit right in and inspire all those that visit.
Thanks so much to the EcoTarium for providing this beautiful bird a wonderful home, and to Delta airlines for taking such good care of her on the airplane.
