Release of draft plan for Northern South Park
Steering committee to meet on Zoom Thursday, January 13
JACKSON HOLE, Wyo. — The planning process on Northern South Park is in the home stretch and almost ready for public unveiling.
The Teton County Planning and Building Services Department announced this week a community update on the progress of the Northern South Park neighborhood planning process. To date, community participation on this effort has included the following public outreach and engagement events:
- Over 80 attendees at the first public workshop in March 2021
- 398 responses to online community survey #1 on neighborhood visioning
- 29 one-on-one interviews with selected project stakeholders
- 98 attendees signed in at the August 19 open house presentation of plan alternatives
- Spanish-speaking workshop with 41 attendees August 26
- Online workshop soliciting feedback August 19 – September 7
- 7 steering committee meetings with our last meeting on October 26
Since the project steering committee meeting on October 26, the project planning team and consultants have narrowed down the neighborhood plan alternatives toward a “preferred plan” based on community feedback and an analysis of market forces, including land costs, infrastructure costs, and availability of construction labor. Planners have received a lot of helpful information on top of all the public input submitted and the team.
After a thorough review of feedback from the public and technical advisors, the planning team decided to narrow the neighborhood plan focus on a Phase 1 of the planning area in more detail. The community planning effort for Phase 1 is designed to be implemented in a quicker timeframe and results in a realistic, buildable, and affordable product to meet community needs.
The next steering committee meeting to discuss Phase 1 is on January 13 at 1pm. It will be available to view on Zoom or type in webinar ID (824 4602 3066) in Zoom.
Feedback from the steering committee will be used to make edits to the preferred plan, which will then be released for public comment. Additional opportunity for comment will be available during public meetings with the Teton County and Town of Jackson Planning Commissions jointly.
Following Planning Commission hearings, planners will schedule meetings with the Board of County Commissioners and the Jackson Town Council.
