Riot Act opens submissions for new playwright series
JACKSON HOLE, Wyo. — Riot Act, Inc. is looking for a few exceptional playwrights. The local theatre company just announced the opening of submissions to its annual New Play Festival playwriting competition.
Three one-act plays will be selected for production during Riot Act’s Annual Series of Shorts this September. Each of the three playwrights whose plays are selected for production will receive an honorarium. The first-place winner will receive $200, and the Marius P. Hanford IV Award. The second place will receive $100. Third place will be awarded $50.
Contest entries are due by July 9 and winners will be notified by July 31. Entry fee is $20 per entry.
Judges for the competition include theatre and writing professionals. All contributing playwrights will receive brief comments through a standardized critique form from a panel judge. It is a unique opportunity for playwrights to gain valuable feedback and possibly see their work produced.
