JACKSON HOLE, Wyo. — It was not the outcome they were hoping for as the 2021-22 season for the Jackson Hole RoboBroncs was cut short at the World Championship in Houston last week.
“It was a pretty humbling experience; to know that we put everything we had into Pico but it just wasn’t good enough…this time, anyway,” said coach Gary Duquette.
What a run, though! And what a band of seniors who enjoyed the most productive year in the program’s history.
“These students and this team made the most of their robotics year—6 competitions, 1 trip to Finals in Idaho, 3 trips to the Semis, 2 trips to California, 2 Engineering Inspirations, 1 Finalist Award, 1 Judges Award, 1 Chairman’s Award, and the robot’s best record by far at World’s in our history,” Duquette recapped. “Only one other team in Houston won both Chairman’s and Engineering Inspiration this year at their regionals.”
The team, includes seniors Stella Vickland-Davis, Walter Duquette, Ben Blount, Brynne Hobart, Austin Harris, Carter Watsabaugh, Roman Goralski, William Carlson, and Carlos Nava.
The success this season has boosted the program to new heights. Already, coaches and mentors are pushing next year’s team and the future of robotics to do even more.
“We are starting our FTC training in two weeks, presenting to GAP at JHMS, and preparing to host our spring 4th/5th grade FLL competition in June,” Duquette said.
The senior class will get a yearend send-off tonight at the Jackson Hole High School commons area.
