Sen. Dockstader will seek open Secretary seat

JACKSON HOLE, Wyo. — Wyoming Senator Dan Dockstader announced this week he intends to run for Secretary of State. Dockstader made the declaration a day after current SOS Ed Buchanan announced he would not seek reelection.

“As Secretary of State, I will make sure that Wyoming grows its economy to provide good paying jobs and opportunities right here in our state. This means protecting and promoting our legacy industries and working hard to attract new industries,” Dockstader said in a prepared statement. “As Secretary of State, my number one priority will be to make sure Wyoming is open for all businesses large and small. Our Secretary of State should be an ambassador for Wyoming and lead our efforts to grow our economy.”

Dockstader has made a long history in the Wyoming Legislature where he began his service in the House as a Representative of HD16 for one term running 2007-08. In 2009, Dockstader made a successful rub for Senate, grabbing the SD16 seat where he has remained, working his way up to Senate Majority Floor Leader (2019-20) and current President of the Senate.

Dockstader is the owner and executive producer of SVI Media in Star Valley. He and his wife Kim have four children.

Chuck Gray (R-Casper) also declared for the position on May 18.
