JACKSON HOLE, Wyo. — Residents of Teton Valley are asked to be on the lookout for a tire scam making the rounds.
Teton County Sheriff’s Office of Idaho is advising residents to beware a scam that has been going around regarding discounted tires through Facebook. A bad actor offers discounted tires then selects tire shop near you and buys them with stolen credit cards.
“We have been working to notify local tire shops and most are no longer taking credit card numbers over the phone,” the Sheriff’s Office says. “If the discount sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Please be diligent about your purchases to prevent being out costs as well as tires.”
