Visitor Center abruptly shuts down
Will reopen Sunday with limited services outdoors only
JACKSON HOLE, Wyo. — The dominoes continue to fall now that Teton County has moved into the Red (High) risk level for COVID transmission.
The Jackson Hole and Greater Yellowstone Visitor Center, located on Cache Street, closed today immediately after receiving word of the elevated risk level. U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, which runs the center, announced it will move back to limited outdoor service (weather dependent) beginning Sunday, August 22.
“The move to close the interior of the visitor center is in line with agency guidance, which prioritizes the health and safety of refuge staff, volunteers, partners, and visitors,” stated Raena Parsons, for the USFWS.
The Community Foundation also today announced Old Bill’s Fun Run scheduled for September 11, would not include any in-person gatherings.
The Visitor Center was closed to begin the summer season until June 6.
