Yellowstone, Grand Teton break records for July
JACKSON HOLE, Wyo. — Both area parks ushered ‘em in like never before last month.
Yellowstone and Grand Teton national parks both broke records for July with visitation. Yellowstone topped the million-in-a-month mark for the first time in its history.
Yellowstone superintendent Cam Sholly shared the news that the nation’s oldest park had exceeded one million visits in July 2021. In no other month previously had the park ever hosted a million or more visitors.
Grand Teton National Park statistics show that July 2021 had the highest number of recreation visits on record for any single month in park history. The park hosted an estimated 828,777 recreation visits this past. That’s a 9.7% increase from July 2020 (755,766 recreation visits) and a 6.8% increase from July 2019 (775,788 recreation visits).

Camping in the park increased 2.7% in July 2021 compared to July 2019, while backcountry camping increased 15.4%. Trail use in the park increased 21% in July 2021, compared to July 2019, on trails that use is counted.
